We went to the Olive Museum in Imperia, Italy today. I don't know of any other Olive Museum in the world. The link to their website is: http://www.museodellolivo.com/eng/index.htm It also has pretty good reviews at Trip Advisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g194781-d2298409-Reviews-Museo_dell_Olivo-Imperia_Italian_Riviera_Liguria.html
The Olive Museum is owned by the Carli family who still process olives on the site. Their processing area is surrounded by glass windows so people can watch the process when they harvest olives in October. Admission to the Olive Museum is 5 euros.
I was really impressed with the Olive Museum. They show you how olive trees migrated to Europe, how they shipped olive oil years ago, the many uses of olive oil, how olives are processed, and the health benefits of olives. I now realize why olive oil is expensive compared to other cooking oils. There is a lot of labor involved, starting with the harvest and the maintenance of the olive trees
The Olive Museum has a great collection of old olive presses and olive oil lamps. There was one olive oil lamp that dated 4000 years ago.
Here's a few pictures I took around Imperia, Italy and the Olive Museum.
